Community Meeting Summary

On April 30th, 2009, over 200 residents of North Tustin (NT) met to discuss the proposed  high-density development of the large property located on Newport Ave, opposite St. Regis Place and Ravencrest.

Here is a brief summary:

·         In terms of potential residential use of the property, there was clear consensus that NT residents would much prefer to see approximately 20 single family homes on the site rather  than the proposed 153 units.

·         Development of this large facility will strain municipal services like sewage and  electricity.  Higher property taxes and fees will result.

·         The proposed development is not compatible with approved development plans for NT as outlined in the North Tustin Specific Plan.

·         Traffic on Newport Ave will become more congested.

·         Attendees got out their check books to help fund opposition.

·         If approved, the single-family residential community north of 17th Street will begin to unravel.

·         Attendees took home yard signs to publicly express their opposition to this development.
